How to sign "and" & "or"?

Modified on Sun, 20 Aug, 2023 at 7:45 AM

  • "and"

Most of the time, it's not necessary to sign "and". You indicate "and" by shifting your body.

Usually it's already implied by just grouping objects together: ME HAVE HOUSE, BOOK, GLASS.

You would only use the sign AND if you want to emphasize it particularly strongly.

  • "or"

You indicate "or" with your body shift movement.

Signing example: YOU HAVE BOOK GREEN or BLUE

Samewise, when expressing "and", but instead of keeping a neutral facial expression, raise your eyebrows as you would when asking a question.

That way, your conversational partner knows you want to communicate "or".
